A SALTY DOG

Programme leader Captain Simon Davies (33) is pictured above on his daily commute to work along the beautiful river Eden. The purchase, last year, of his beloved motor launch H.M.S. Simon Says has boosted our heroic leader's already legendary sense of adventure. With the River Eden now fully explored and charted (in frightening detail on imperial graph paper) new horizons beckon...

Next August he hopes to navigate himself to the Isle of White to take part in Cowes Week. A confident Captain Davies stated yesterday, "I'm not daunted at all by the prospect of cruising to Cowes. I mean, how hard could it be? All you have to do is sail to the end of the Eden and turn left - or is it right?.."

Strangest thing of the week

Answers on a postcard.
This weeks strangest thing was created by Kerry Heaney (1st yr graphic design), it was found in the corner of a worksheet and has something to do with grapefruit, that's all we know.

christmas cards

We hope to see (and receive) some fantastically designed and handmade cards (£10 notes casually enclosed within, obviously) before we split for Christmas, here's an example by (2nd yr illustrator) Jenny Cox.

screenprint

2nd yr graphics student Sarah Gill posted this on her blog along with these choice words - "This bad boy tomorrow morning, A0. Boom".
Boom indeed.

carbaholics

Here on Graphics and Illustration we've noticed a trend in student meals toward the carb-overload. With that in mind we've put together this tasty and filling lunchtime suggestion. Mmmmm, dig in.

a load of old paint

A rather choice palette.

mmmmm worksheets!

A single example showing a tiny portion of a project recently completed by Claire Wood (2nd year illustration) on the subject of a stamp collection.

what?

Thanks to Ozzy (1st year graphics) for this little diamond that appeared amidst the pages of his current project work. Nope, we haven't got the foggiest either.

Crumble friday

Friday on the Graphics and Illustration course here at Cumbria is crumble day. Pass your eyes across this monster, got to be the largest portion of the year.

not so cracking

Christmas dinner today and how about this for a not so cracking cracker toy. The jokes weren't up to much either.

good enough to eat

Just a few images from Amy Holliday (3rd year illustration) who has recently been looking at all things nature. Taken from her flickr page which you can see here.

world party clothing

Josh Taylor (1st yr graphics) has got some hand printed T's for sale over at his bagcartel site. Short on sleeves, big on ideas.

Doodles

Taken from Lee Freeman's (2nd yr graphic design) blog.

burn baby burn

Some more work from collections project, this time it's matchboxes and from Sarah Gill (2nd yr graphics).
