Grillust™ Autumn Tour 2012 - Destination No.1

Blackpool Postcard

Location: Blackpool
Date: Thursday 31 May
Distance from Carlisle: 100 miles
Grillust™ Operative: Tony

We’ve started our Autumn tour a little earlier this year - well Spring actually - with our very first trip to Blackpool. The weather wasn’t too kind but the people were lovely. As ever, here are a few Blackpool fast facts:

Blackpool Fast Fact 1: The world famous ‘Blackpool Rock’ is extracted from a huge quarry in the small suburb of Poulton

Blackpool Fast Fact 2: Tower plagiarist Louis Eiffel was only inspired to create the structure that carries his name after seeing the Blackpool original, during a Wallace Arnold ‘Romance of the Fylde Coast with a day’s shopping in Preston’  package tour in 1887

Blackpool Fast Fact 3: Serial Rita botherer Alan Bradley, famously met his end under a Blackpool tram in 1989 (while being watched by 26.93 million spectators)!

Blackpool Fast Fact 4: For Fish & Chips, visit the Yorkshire Fisheries in Topping Street (yummy).

Blackpool Fast Fact 5: You should go and see the Comedy Carpet
