Year 1 CD Packaging Project

Stefan Sagmeister has a goal of producing design which 'moves' people. We think this is what all design and illustration should aspire to and encourage our students to always remember that 'dull design is done by dull people' or, to put it another way, 'if you don't care about what you're doing why should your audience care enough to look at it?'

This project asked the students to explore how, through their use of Graphic Design and Illustration, they could find direct equivalents to those other forms of art, more usually considered as having the power to produce strong emotional responses (painting, music, drama, poetry etc.). In this case a set of lyrics were provided and the students were asked to created a promotional CD package for their chosen song.
